24 illegal houses dismantled

KOTA KINABALU:

Twenty-four houses illegally built at Kampung Bakau in Likas were demolished during an integrated operation yesterday. The City Hall enforcement team pulled down four houses, while 20 others were demolished by their owners, said City Hall Enforcement Chief Abdul Mukti Muchlish yesterday. He said 77 officers and personnel from the City Hall, RELA, Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB), Water Department, Police Force and Immigration were involved in the operation. The demolition exercise was carried out under the Building. ByLaws 1951, said Abdul Mukti, adding it would be carried out until July 16. Several of the houses were illegally connected with water and electricity supplies which were dismantled by personnel from the Water Department and SESB.
