More support for Musa to contest Vice President post

KOTA KINABALU:

Another Sabah Umno division will be proposing Chief Minister cum Sabah Umno Chief Datuk Sen Musa Aman for one of the Vice President posts in the Party election this December. According to Tuaran Unmo Chief, Datuk Hajiji Mohd Noor would also make the proposal in its coming annual general meeting. He told reporters this after a courtesy call by Consumers Association of Sabah and Labuan (CASH) members at his office here yesterday. The latest nomination is the fourth after Putatan, Kota Belud and Penampang that have made known their decision to nominate Musa for the post. Hajiji said it was fitting for Sabahan leaders to be introduced into the central leadership at the Vice Presidency level. Musa, who is an Umno Supreme Council Member, is. believed to be considering contesting the Vice President post, but he has said “it was too early to decide”. Another Sabah leader Datuk Shafie Apdal, who is Unity, Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister, has said he would contest the Vice President position. Hajiji, when asked to comment on Shafie’s intention, said it was a positive development and it shows that Sabahan leaders have the confidence to offer themselves to assume duties at a higher level. “Of course Umno divisions in Sabah will give these leaders the opportunity to show their ability and propose them for the posts, including Datuk Shafie,” he said. SabahUmno Secretary cum Umno Putatan Division Chief Datuk Sen Panglima Yahya Hussin, when officiating the simultaneous meeting of 141 branches in the division on Saturday, made the proposal for Musa to contest for the Vice Presidency in December. On Sunday, Umno Penampang Division including its Women, Youth and Puteri movements also unanimously supported the suggestion.
