UMS to adopt integrity plan for staff, students


KOTA KINABALU:

Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) will adopt the National Integrity Plan for its staff and students as part of efforts to build a community that values high moral and ethical standards. Speaking at a function at the Chancellor Hail yesterday, UMS Vice Chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Kamaruzaman Hj Ampon said a person with religious beliefs and a positive personality would not be affected by all kinds of challenges that could affect his integrity. Kamruzaman said UMS would adopt integrity as a priority in its management and to promote confidence and trust by the community. He added that all UMS staff and students should be role models for the community, especially when UMS as a higher learning institution was entrusted with developing individuals with integrity. He called on them to understand the significant elements in the adoption of integrity, including being cooperative and valuing peace and harmony while preserving UMS’ reputation. Over 100 UMS staff members attended the function, which was organised by the UMS Non- Academic Professional and Management Association. Also present were the Association’s President Noman Ahmad and guest of honour Datuk Abu Kassim bin Mohammed who is the Deputy Director of the Anti- Corruption Agency.
