Body of man found in stream Wounds on ear, left chin believed caused by sharp object

KOTA KINABALU:

The body of a man was found floating face up in a small stream close to the KK Times Square construction site here yesterday afternoon. The shocking discovery was made by 31 -year-old landscaper Kiansus Kawaama who normally goes to the stream to fish during his lunch break. City Police Chief ACP Ahmad Sofi Zakaria said that the victim, believed to be a24-year-old Filipino, was found with wounds on the ear and left chin, believed to be caused by a sharp object. “We received an eyewitness report around noon and sent a team to investigate. The body was sent to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for postmortem,” said Sofi. He said the police bad yet to establish the cause of death and how long the victim haddied. “We are working closely with the Police Forensic Unit to determine this and to track down the culprit’s,” he said. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code which carries the death penalty upon conviction. Meanwhile, Kiansus, who seemed a little shaken by the discovery, told the media that he went for his lunch break around 11 .30 am and had gone to the stream to fish, as usual. “I saw the body floating in the water, faceup, but did not recognise him. He fully dressed, except for the shoes.. “Shocked with the discovery, I walked to the City Police Station in Karamunsing (about 5km from the scene) to lodge the report,” he said. Investigation on the case were continuing.
